Welcome to Bible Talk with Jessica! Today we read about how sin can prevent us from receiving what God has for us.
Let’s get started!
Please note – I am not a pastor. I have had no bible training, gone to bible school, or anything like that. I do not consider myself a bible scholar at all. I am just someone who loves the Lord, loves reading the bible, and would love to talk with others about it. This is a place for me to do that. We may not agree on everything I post. I ask that all comments remain polite, and honoring to the Lord. I am just here sharing what the Lord lays on my heart, what I’ve learned, and what jumps out at me as I read. I hope you’ll join me in reading your bible as well and share what you’ve learned!
Scripture Reading for Today
Joshua 7:1, 1 Chronicles 2:7, Joshua 7:2 – 9:27

Bible Talk
The Israelites, well one in particular – Achan – had sinned. Achan took what the Lord said they shouldn’t, and hid it thinking no one would find out. But the Lord knew. The Lord told Joshua that they wouldn’t be able to defeat their enemies until this sin was dealt with – essentially saying get Achan out of there.
It made me pause and think. Do I have sin in my life that is preventing the Lord from using me in a mighty way? Do I have things in my household, or even in my mind that are stopping God from blessing me? Honestly, I don’t know the answer to that question. But it’s a good question to ask. If the Lord wanted all the evil things out of the Israelites camp before he allowed them to defeat their enemies, perhaps He wants all the evil things out of my life as well before He moves forward with something He has in store for me.
For those of you who don’t know, I lost my job last year, and I haven’t found a new job yet. Yes, I am still doing virtual assistant stuff, but it is not nearly enough to pay the bills. I’ve searched, I’ve applied, nothing has happened in almost a year. And you know, maybe God is just waiting for me to dig deep, take a look at everything that is happening in my life, and make some changes. Maybe He’s waiting for me to get rid of the bad before He blesses me with a new job. I have no idea really, but it’s certainly possible.
Is there something in your life that is keeping the Lord from blessing you? I pray that you’ll spend time with the Lord to find that out. I know I’m going to.
