ABOUT NO GREATER LOVE

One Book Changed Her Life…and Her Eternity

He said he’d never risk leaving a widow.
She said she’d never love a man in uniform.

Paige McDonald collects antique literature and works at the largest bookstore in Portland, Oregon. When her grandfather, a firefighter, was killed, she vowed never to fall in love with a first responder. An old Bible leads to an unexpected discovery and disrupts everything she knows about herself, her family, and God. Her desire to know the truth sends her to the town of Whitman directly into the radar of Patrol Officer Hamilton Bryant.

After the loss of his best friend and fellow officer, Hamilton vowed never to marry. He won’t risk leaving a widow. Instead, he reserves his passion for serving his family and the town he’s sworn to protect. When a series of robberies and threats against the mayor correspond with Paige’s sudden appearance in Whitman, their paths intersect.

ABOUT FORGIVEN AGAIN

If she wins the election, she’ll lose her family…and possibly her life.

Whitman Mayor Kathleen Phillips has spent her life pursuing a political career and following in her father’s footsteps and now, she stands on the brink of becoming the next governor of Oregon. The last few months have turned her well-ordered life upside down, when a mistake from her past threatens everything she’s worked to achieve. How far is she willing to go to see her dream fulfilled and keep her failures out of the spotlight?

Ryan Whitestone regrets his foolish actions on a fall night twenty-five years ago. He has loved Kathleen since high school, but his heart is broken by the ice woman she has become. Can he bring her back to God and remind her of who she used to be? Will he be able to love who she is now as much as he loved the girl he remembers?

Kathleen’s father was a hated man during his tenure as Oregon State Governor and his enemies will stop at nothing to prevent his daughter from winning the election…

CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT

Meet Kathleen

Full Name: Anna Kathleen Staten Phillips

Physical Description: Kathleen has brown hair and brown eyes. She’s an average height for a woman with a slender build. She dresses classy and has fancy, expensive taste in clothing and accessories. Her hair and make-up must be perfect before she lets anyone see her.

Celebrity Look-alike: Whenever I pictured Kathleen in my head, I immediately saw the actress, Tina Fey (with glasses). She looks smart and powerful.

Occupation: Mayor of Whitman, Oregon

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Kathleen is honest and direct, strong-willed and dutiful, very responsible, calm, and practical. These strengths make her a good lawyer and public official. They serve her well in her pursuit of the governorship.

Kathleen is also stubborn, insensitive, always by the book, judgmental, unreasonably blames herself.

Values success and keeping the right image, expects perfection of herself and everyone around her. This keeps her from connecting emotionally with people and makes her stand-offish. She’s called the Ice Queen behind her back.

Inspiration for the character: I knewI wanted to create a daddy’s girl torn between family and power, other than that, Kathleen formed as I wrote the first book in the series.

Quirk: She doesn’t use ice and drinks lukewarm water from the tap.

Background to the story:

When Kathleen was two years old, her family moved to the small town of Whitman in eastern Oregon. Five years later, her father became the mayor. Kathleen adored her father and stove to be just like him as she grew up. After graduation, she attended Stanford University and obtained degrees in political science and civil law degree. She married Formula-One driver, Lionel Phillips and they had a daughter, Kylie.

Kathleen had a successful career as a lawyer in Indiana. When her husband was killed in a freak accident on the racetrack and her father was diagnosed with cancer, she returned to Whitman and was elected mayor. With a desire to follow in her father’s political footsteps, she set her sights on becoming the next governor…
