Hello reader friends! Welcome to my Spring Into Reading Event! Every day this month I’m going to feature a new release (or will be released) book for you to add to your TBR. There will be guest posts, giveaways, book excerpts, and more! So make sure you come back daily and see what book is in the spotlight next! And if you’ve missed any, be sure to click on the “Spring Into Reading” tab and look at the other posts!

Please join me in welcoming Milla Holt to the blog! She’s here talking about the inspiration behind her new story, Pushing Past the Pain. Although I haven’t read it yet, this diverse read looks to be an encouraging and uplifting story. I hope you’ll add it to your TBR’s as well. And Milla has graciously offered to give away an ecopy of the book to one lucky reader!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Pushing Past the Pain: A Clean and Wholesome International Romance (Color-Blind Love Book 2) by [Milla Holt]

A devoted father devastated by the loss of his wife. A young widowed mother whose wounds began long before her husband died. Will their shared grief bring them together or push them apart?

Ragnar’s life was shattered when a hit-and-run driver robbed him of his wife and his young daughter of her mother.

Ella was struggling to hold her fractured marriage together when her husband died suddenly, leaving her with a mountain of debt and a heartbroken young daughter.

When her new neighbor Ragnar moves in, their little girls soon become inseparable, and Ella is the perfect babysitter for Ragnar’s daughter. But as the chemistry between them grows, Ragnar wants much more from Ella than childcare.

He’s dreaming of finding love again while she is petrified of repeating the mistakes that made her first marriage a nightmare.

Inspiration Behind the Story

A few years ago, my husband and I decided to take out life insurance policies. We thought it was a wise thing to do, since my husband is the main breadwinner and I homeschool our four young children. As we filled in the forms, my imagination began to go into overdrive, and I started thinking about how my husband would cope with our children if I died young, and what challenges I would face if I were widowed with small children.

This was the seed which grew into my Christian romance novel, Pushing Past the Pain. It tells the story of a man and a woman who lost their spouses and are now trying to pick up the pieces of their lives. Writing this story allowed me to explore the issues that can come up when you’re grieving a spouse: financial pressures, guilt, regrets, and allowing yourself to hope and love again.

The story is set in a fictional English village that’s based on a couple of places I know well. We live in England, so it’s easy for me to base a story here.

As with all the other books in my Color-Blind Love series, the couple are from different races. I’m Black and my husband is White, and I wanted to celebrate love across cultural and racial boundaries.
