Wondering Wednesdays – Missions Trips

Welcome to Wondering Wednesdays, a weekly post to learn more about me and other bloggers ðŸ™‚ If you’re a blogger, please join in every week!

Today’s questions is –  Have you ever been on a missions trip?

Unfortunately my answer is no, I have not been on a missions trip. It is on my bucket list though. I’d love to go on a week long trip first, just to get my feet wet. Then I really have a desire to go somewhere for like a month or two. I know I’m not here to be a missionary, but to help them out for a short time would be an amazing experience.

A few years ago my daughter had the opportunity to go on a week missions trip. She went with our pastor and his wife to Mexico and stayed with a missions family our church supported (they have since come back to the states). She worked at their children’s home throughout the week, led a teen girls bible study, and handed out tracks in the streets. It was such a great opportunity for her, and gave her a chance to use a little bit of the Spanish she had learned in school. She’d love to go on another trip, so perhaps it’s something we can do together in the future!

What about you? Have you been on a missions trip? Share your experience in the comments!

Well technically, we were missionaries on Guam. We stayed a year after my husband was discharged from the Navy. His time was up but God said stay. Nice that the Navy still shipped us back after one year. We worked with servicemen and drug addicts. One of our fellow workers and friend was a Navy counselor and got us into the Navy counseling course. That was over 40 years ago, before hubby went to Bible College.

It’s amazing to see the way God moves in our lives!! Thank you for your service to these people 🙂

  2. Yes, I have been on a missions trip. I did not leave the country. Our church group went to another state and helped with troubled youth. A great experience to be able to help the young people. My husband and I have also worked on building homes, serving meals to the needy, and delivering meals to shut in’s. There are mission trips here and overseas. Anywhere we can share the love of Christ is an opportunity to be blessed and to bless others.

We have a sign above our door at church that says “You are entering the mission field” and it’s so true! How amazing that you got to do those things!
