The Chase

Hindsight is 20/20.

I can never go back to my teenage years and offer myself the advice inside The Chase by Kelsey and Kyle Kupecky, although I wish I could. I grew up in a non-Christian home and had no clue about the true importance of waiting for the one that God has made for you. I didn’t understand why it was such a big deal to date and give your heart away time and time again. I certainly was never told the real reason why we should wait to have sex – I was given all the obvious reasons. Disease, pregnancy, you’re too young, etc. You’ve heard them all I am sure. I know all this and so much more today, as I am a Christian woman chasing after God.

The Chase is such a fantastic book for Christian teens and non-Christian teens alike. Kelsey and Kyle have poured their hearts out and shared intimate details of their lives. Not just about their own love story, but about past mistakes, and circumstances they have seen their friends go through. Their story shows you that they are not perfect, however reflected after each situation and strived to chase God even more. I appreciate their willingness to share these details with us so that we may learn from them.

The Chase is not just a love story. It is about putting God in your life first and foremost. When you do that, the rest will fall into place. Kelsey and Kyle met at a time in their lives where they were okay with being single. They were chasing after God and God alone. They stress the importance of praying for your future spouse, and saving your heart for the one that God has in store for you. In today’s society that is a breath of fresh air. Hollywood loves to portray love and sex as something casual, when in fact is it something sacred and beautiful. A true gift from God.

I have a daughter who is about to turn 13, and I am so thankful that this book came out at this exact moment. I have encouraged her to read it and we will be discussing it as she reads it. I have already told her many of the points found in this book, however I think when you are a child you don’t always listen to what you parents have to say. Let’s face it, we have all been children. Parents don’t know anything. (For the record, I do realize now how untrue that statement is!) The Chase is an excellent tool for parents to use to reinforce the points they are trying to make. Chase God. He is in control and will bless you for following Him. Thank you Kelsey and Kyle for sharing your lives with us! I highly encourage you to buy this for your daughters, nieces, friends, children in church, or for yourself. Not only will you be encouraged, you will be reminded of God’s love.
