My Perspective
Action. Romance. Swoony moments. Faith. Real life issues. Mental illness. Hope. This book has it all! Gosh I have been enjoying this series so much and I’m hoping that Sunrise decides they want to do some more books. Hint, hint, wink, wink.
First of all I need to praise the inclusion of mental illness in this story, and what Kelsey’s perspective as a counselor brought to this situation. I think quite often we have reactions mirroring Trace’s when we are judging circumstances (hence the reason we shouldn’t judge), but we don’t stop and think about what the person doing harm is going through. I’ll admit, I’m one of those quick to judge kind of people. But this book, well Kelsey in particular, really opened my eyes. And this was just in the first few chapters guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve had a book really have an impact on me so early on in the story – usually it’s towards the end. Bravo.
And the rest of the book? Well it was just so good. The dialogue was blended perfectly with the rest, the action was just right, the pacing was spot on. Everything about it was good, until the end – and that’s just because I wasn’t ready to part with the characters yet. Trace? Yeah, he’s a swoony character alright. I really enjoyed seeing him and Kelsey come together. I mean, it’s hard when there’s a history, especially when that history includes a deceased wife/best friend. But honestly, it was beautifully written, and realistic. It wasn’t like oh my wife is dead and so now I run into her best friend and bam I’m in love lol. No, it was tactful, and a reminder that love after loss is ok.
All in all, I think contemporary romance fans who enjoy fast paced, action stories will really enjoy this story. I sure did, and I’m ready for more!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own
