Welcome to the blog tour for Lake Season by Denise Hunter, hosted by Celebrate Lit! I just love reading Denise’s book, so when I saw this one was on tour, I couldn’t sign up fast enough 🙂
Book: Lake Season
Author: Denise Hunter
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 12, 2019
A lost letter, a new love, and old secrets beckon this summer at the Bluebell Inn.
When their parents die in a tragic accident, Molly Bennett and her siblings pull together to fulfill their parents’ dream: turning their historic Bluebell, North Carolina home back into an inn. The situation would just be temporary—three years at the most—then they would sell the inn and Molly could get back to chasing her own dreams.
Adam Bradford (aka bestselling author Nathanial Grey) is a reclusive novelist with a bad case of writer’s block. Desperate for inspiration as his deadline approaches, he travels to the setting of his next book, a North Carolina lake town. There he immediately meets his muse, a young innkeeper who fancies herself in love with his alter ego.
Molly and Adam strike up an instant friendship. When Molly finds a long-lost letter in the walls of her inn she embarks on a mission with Adam to find the star-crossed lovers and bring them the closure they deserve. But Adam has secrets of his own. Past and present collide as truths are revealed, and Molly and Adam will have to decide if love is worth trusting.

Denise Hunter never disappoints. Even with storylines that you think you’ve heard before – she puts her wonderfully creative spin on them, and draws you in from the start. I cannot fathom losing both my parents at the same time, as Molly and her siblings did. But the way they stuck together (for the most part) was inspiring to me. Each sibling needed to pull their own weight, work hard, and restore a beautiful (at least in my mind!) inn. I kind of felt like I was just as invested in this project as they were!
But the true star of the story for me was Adam. First of all, he’s an author, and so that immediately grabs my attention. But it was so neat to see an author going out to try to get over a writer’s block hump. It almost felt as if Hunter was giving us a behind the scenes look at the life of an author – it felt real and authentic. It also gave me a new appreciation for authors, especially when readers like me are begging for more. I think we don’t always remember that writing is not easy – they just make it look easy! Adam was charming, mysterious and a joy to read.
With a Hallmark feel, a beautiful setting, and moments of fun, this book is a must read for romance fans. Hunter even provides a bit of a historical story here, one that I found myself drawn to. A surprise twist joining the stories together made the book even more appealing. I just wish it didn’t have to end!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
