In 1875, Kansas bachelor Drew Montgomery's sole desire is to serve God, but his congregation's ultimatum that he marry or leave, forces him to advertise for a wife by proxy.

Jules Walker strides into Drew's life wearing breeches and toting a gun and saddle--more cowboy than bride. After years on the trail, she's not exactly wife material, but she longs for home and family, and will do anything to ensure Drew never discovers what she really is.

Author Interview

Hello Jodie and welcome to the blog!! Let’s get right to the questions. When you are not writing, what do you like to do?

I like to walk, read, knit, and spend time with my husband.

Reading is a favorite of mine too! And I don’t knit, however I have been learning how to crochet. What’s your go-to bible verse during times of difficulty?

Lately it’s been John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

 (NIV)

I love that one! Such a great reminder of God’s care for us. If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and why?

Probably Laura Ingalls Wilder since it was her series that got me interested in writing historical novels.

I would love to meet her as well! If we were to peek at your nightstand/coffee table/counter/kitchen table, what interesting things would we find?

Currently you would find nonfiction books about peace which is the theme of book three in the Burrton Springs Brides Series.

I’d love to take a peek at those! What are you working on next?

Taming Julia is book one in my Burrton Springs Brides Series. Protecting Annie released at the end of 2021. I’m currently working on book three – Wooing Gertrude.

I can’t wait to read it! Thanks for stopping by today 🙂
