My Perspective

The Dreaming Beauty is an interesting retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Walker did a great job of making this story her own. She held true to the basics of the beloved story we know, but twisted the tale in a way that I thought was creative and fun. Tansy and Marcus were well written characters that I grew to love.

I will admit the story started out a little on the slow side for me. I would have preferred a faster pace, but that is just my opinion. I stuck with it, and I am glad because by about the midway point or a little sooner even, it picked up and I became invested in the storyline. I appreciated the way the author wrote Tansy and Marcus’ relationship. Friends first really. I think it made the story better all around instead of them just swooning over each other, which would have spoiled the storyline for me.

All in all, this was a fun retelling that I think readers will enjoy. It’s got all the things you want in a fairy tale, with some surprises along the way. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
