Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Goals for 2025!

Posted by abakersp in Top Ten Tuesday / 6 Comments

Hello my reader friends. Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is Bookish Goals for 2025. I have so many of them!!! I am actually including 11 here – I know, the horror! LOL. And I don’t know if I’ll make them all happen or not, but it’s fun to dream, right!?

My Bookish Goals for 2025!

  1. I have started a reading journal already. I want to grow in creativity and just have fun with it! I hope to share updates on Instagram so make sure you’re following me!
  2. My Netgalley list was at zero a year ago, and now it’s far from that. I’ve been better about requesting books, but it’s time to get caught up again!
  3. My goal is to read daily, even if it’s only for a mere five minutes. Many reasons for this, but mostly I want to work my brain muscles, get away from the screen for a bit, and catch up on all these books!
  4. I tried the 24 in 24 challenge last year and maybe got half way. This year I am committed. And guess what? Most of the reads on there are allowing me to reach Goal #2!
  5. I didn’t blog much last year, and for awhile I was ok with it. I even thought about ending the blog. But the truth is, I missed it. I still need to work out timing and all that, but I am not ready to throw in the towel.
  6. For the past few years I have been really narrow minded in the reading world. Christian fiction only. And that’s fine, but I’m finding that there are lots of good reads out there that aren’t Christian fiction. And it’s ok to read them if I choose to. I work in a library part time and I can’t tell you the number of people that talk about authors I have never even heard of, even though they are wildly popular. Why? Because I was narrow minded. Now, in saying this, I’m not saying I am going to read books with rough language or sexual content or anything. I’m not changing my principals, I’m just expanding my reading options. Which leads me to……
  7. I don’t know why I care about what other people think. I mean, Jesus is truly the only one who matters (well and my family is important, but you know what I mean). If I want to read XXX book, then I’m gonna read it. If some people are gasping because of it, then I need to be ok with that. We all have different convictions from the Lord, and for good reason. I’m going to let Him be the one to tell me what to read or not read.
  8. I work at a library and yet I barely use it! It’s so silly, and mostly because I get a lot of arcs. But I’ve started doing less of those (trust me, I still do a lot but not nearly what I was doing two years ago), and I have zero budget when it comes to buying new books. So I plan to use the library and Hoopla a lot more this year. I just put four books on hold. Is that a good start!? 🤪
  9. Just recently I was buddy reading an ebook with a bookstagram friend, and I wanted to read another book with it (because we were taking our time and talking every so often about what we’d read). And so I chose to read a print book along with it. You know what I discovered? I really enjoyed having two reads at the same time. I never thought I could do that because the stories would get messed up in my head, but they haven’t. And so now I want to be doing this all the time. FYI – I’m doing it right now!!
  10. That buddy read was sooooooo fun. I loved sharing feelings about the book. SO friends….if you want to buddy read then please reach out to me! I’d love to do more this year.
  11. Finally…… I have been toying with this podcast idea for quite a few years now. Towards the end of last year I finally started really planning things out. The other day I even test recording myself, because well, I hate the sound of my voice. But it’s something I just need to get over lol. I’m just calling it A Baker’s Perspective Podcast for branding purposes, but it’ll be bookish just like the blog. I’m hoping to have transcripts here, but until I figure that out I’ll at least have show notes here on this same website. I’d appreciate your prayers. I want to dive into books – and get authors to talk about all the spoilers! I know it’s different than the norm, but I’m really excited about it and hope you are too. Now I just need to get the courage to record once and for all and get going!

So what about you? What bookish goals do you have for this year?

  1. I’m actually trying to read more uplifting books this year since I tend to read a lot of dark, intense, more graphic books. That has been weighing on my mood and my soul too much lately. What uplifting (but not preachy or cheesy) books would you recommend? Christian fiction is fine as long as it’s well-written and not over-the-top preachy.

Good luck with your goals and Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    • Actually if you like dark and intense books, you should try Jessica Patch. Her Strange Crimes Unit series is dark and twisty, but clean and Christian. There is faith themes, but I don’t find them preachy at all. I think you’d enjoy them!

  2. A reading journal and NetGalley are two of mine as well! My ratio is… awful. A podcast?? How awesome! Good luck with that and your other goals this year.
