Bible Talk With Jessica – Day 79

Posted by abakersp in Bible Talk With Jessica / 0 Comments

Welcome to Bible Talk with Jessica! Moses’ time is drawing to a close, and today we not only learn more great things from him, but we see the Lord choose Joshua and provide those words we can always have in our hearts – “I will be with you.” (Duet 31:23)

Let’s get started!

Please note – I am not a pastor. I have had no bible training, gone to bible school, or anything like that. I do not consider myself a bible scholar at all. I am just someone who loves the Lord, loves reading the bible, and would love to talk with others about it. This is a place for me to do that. We may not agree on everything I post. I ask that all comments remain polite, and honoring to the Lord. I am just here sharing what the Lord lays on my heart, what I’ve learned, and what jumps out at me as I read. I hope you’ll join me in reading your bible as well and share what you’ve learned!

Scripture Reading for Today

Deuteronomy 29:2 – 31:29

Verse of the Day

And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

Deuteronomy 30:2,3

Bible Talk

God knew the Israelites were going to stray, just as they had in the past. But no matter how far down that sinful path they chose to go, He always welcomed them back with open arms.

He does the same for us.

Friends, sometimes we find ourselves in a spot where we aren’t close to the Lord anymore. It tends to happen gradually. You make little changes in your life here and there, and over time you find yourself not reading your bible, not praying, maybe even staying away from church. You’re doing things you know the Lord would not approve of. Perhaps you feel a little prompt here and there telling you to come back. This is the Lord prompting you! He wants His children to come back.

This can happen to all of us and at any time in our lives. It doesn’t matter how good of a Christian we are. It doesn’t matter if we’ve been a faithful servant for twenty years or more. It. Can. Happen. But the good news is, just like God welcomed back the Israelites, He will welcome us back as well. It doesn’t matter what we’ve done, we can repent and ask for forgiveness. We can ask for help in getting back to a close walk with the Lord. He will not turn us away! (Side note – this does NOT give us the right to go and do these things because we know He will forgive. Our goal should always be to remain Christ-like)

This is such a comforting thought for me. Not because I want to go do something dumb, or because I want to talk away from the Lord. But if the time ever came where I wasn’t as close to Him as I wanted to be, I know that He’ll open His loving arms and not even blink an eye about taking me back. He will do the same for you! So if you’re in a spot of life, even right now, where you know you need to get back with the Lord, I encourage you to do so. He’s waiting. You just have to let Him know you’re ready.
