INTERVIEW WITH JIM O’SHEA
Hello Jim, and welcome to the blog! What was the inspiration behind this story?
I had a dream years ago about twin brothers horsing around on a bridge over a rushing river. One fell in and the body was never recovered, but later in the dream the remaining brother began to see his dead twin. Although the situation, characters, and circumstances were all changed, this dream was the basis for “Blood Sisters”.
Wow. That must have beens some dream! What’s one thing readers don’t know about you?
I’ve always been fascinated with the faith vs. science debate that is so prevalent in our society today. To me, science is a wonderful way to reveal God’s creation, and many of my novels do just that!
I love using science as a way to showcase God’s creation! What do you want readers to gain from reading this?
The main character in Blood Sisters is a beautiful, successful architect on the surface, but that façade masks many deep-seeded issues. If the reader was to gain anything other than a fun read from Blood Sisters, it would be to always be sensitive to other’s hidden challenges.
Yes I agree. You never know what people are dealing with! Do you characters ever talk to you at odd times?
The characters do rarely, but the story will often talk to me when I’m not expecting it. This typically occurs when my I let my mind wander while driving, before falling asleep, exercising, etc. There have been times when a story idea will surface in the middle of the night and I write it down, but it doesn’t always make sense the next morning. ?
Ha! Maybe we should see some of the notes! What are you working on next?
I just finished the first draft of my fourth novel, “I, Witness”. This new thriller combines elements of faith, science, technology, and espionage into a story that not only celebrates God’s revelation of Himself through the natural sciences, but also presents a plot that is both mind-boggling and reflects a true message of salvation.
Sounds intriguing. Can’t wait to learn more about it! Thanks for stopping by today Jim.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Author of two highly-rated thrillers (The Linen God and The Reluctant Disciple), Jim O’Shea spends his time crafting novels of suspense that frequently tackle the dynamic between faith and science. Jim believes God continues to reveal his creation masterpiece through scientific discovery, and that Christian fiction is a great tool to expose those emerging truths.
His third novel, “Blood Sisters”, takes a more traditional approach to mystery thrillers with a mind-bending whodunit in the tradition of Agatha Christie, Harlan Coben, and Michael Connelly. His fourth novel, “I, Witness”, will return to his faith/science roots and feature a compelling blend of espionage, leading-edge science, and salvation.
