His Encouragement – Follow Me

Posted by abakersp in Thoughtful Thursday / 0 Comments

Hello my friends. Welcome to another addition (albeit late) of His Encouragement. A weekly post to help get you through your week.

Last week I shared that life has been crazy lately, and it still is. I want to share another piece of that with you. A few months ago, our minister announced that he and his wife were leaving the ministry to become missionaries. It was not something anyone expected, especially me. And during a time when our ability to even have church was more than limited probably didn’t help matters.

Here’s some backstory –

I was saved as an adult. We used to go to the church that my husband’s family has gone to forever, and I don’t have anything bad to say about that church. But we left it and came to this church. There was more of an opportunity for spiritual growth, and some kids our daughter could connect with. We’ve been coming here for about 12 years, started on just Wednesday nights and then transitioned into making it our home church. I have learned so much at this church, from this minister and his wife. I have grown spiritually – something that would not have happened had we not moved here. These guys are like our family, like our mom and dad. To say we are going to miss them would be an understatement.

Even so……

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

matthew 4:19

Jesus tells us to follow Him, in everything. Our minister and his wife have been called to the ministry, so they must go. Yes it will be hard, but I support them 200%! I am excited to see what the Lord is going to do for them. In fact, He’s already started working! They’ve (all via video conference) started working with churches in Pakistan and India, and they started a bible school there too! God is so good. I ask you to pray for them. Their last day with us is next Wednesday, and COVID rules are preventing us from having the party that they deserve to have. There will be tears for sure. But we’re family – we’ll stay in contact!

You. may be wondering how this could encourage you? Well my friends, I urge you to follow Jesus. If there is something He is calling you to do, don’t waste any time. Just jump ahead, take a leap of faith, and do it! I promise you won’t be sorry. In fact, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the blessings that come from it.
