Welcome to the Celebrate Lit blog tour for Once Upon a Christmas! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. In every book you read! Ha 🙂 I love this time of year, as you all know. Reading Christmas stories are so fun, put me in the spirit, and make me want to listen to Christmas music. Which I’ve been doing for about two weeks now lol. Not all day, but here and there I’ve got it mixed into my playlist! Kind of want to get my tree out….BUT I know my family would not approve of that. So in the meantime, I’ll just read books like this one!

These authors have managed to combine three things I love into one bundle of happiness – Christmas, reading, and fairy tales. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this is THE best set of Christmas novellas I have ever read – and I’ve read quite a bit! Every single story in this set deserves high praise for its creativity, ability to pull the reader into the story, and making a big impact in a short amount of time.

Fairy tale retellings can be tricky, especially when you’re trying to give them all a Christmas theme when it doesn’t belong. Let’s face it, some of these tales don’t exactly scream Christmas. At the end of each story, this reader was feeling as if Christmas should have always been part of the story. I have to commend each and every author for their ability to alter things just slightly to give it that magical Christmas feel. Yes, you could see the original tales throughout the pages – I knew what each story was without even looking. But these talented authors added their own flare, their own spin, and their own punch to each one.

I am so very thankful that these ladies decided to team up and bring these stories to life. And hopefully they understand that I’ll be expecting more from them come next Christmas 😉 But until then, I am going to reread this several times as we grow closer to the holiday season. And then I’m going to dive into some of their other books, because I know they are all fantastic authors. I highly recommend you do the same!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dear Readers,

Thank you for stopping by the Celebrate Lit blog tour of Once Upon a Christmas. We are so excited to bring you this Christmas collection. All of us had a lot of fun writing it as we delved into the fairy tales of Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, Snow White, Cinderella, and The Little Mermaid.

What we discovered when writing is that in the heart of every girl is the desire to be a princess. Now, I’m not talking about dressing up in a beautiful gown and wearing a crown while twirling around (although I, Toni, admit I would do that in a heartbeat). No, we discovered that in the heart of every girl (sister, mom, daughter, etc) is the desire to be loved and accepted.

Can Talia find someone who can accept all of her, including her health issues? Can Amala find someone who will love her for her and not her money? Can Li find acceptance for who she truly is and not the façade she presents? Will Ella find a familial kind of love? And Gabrielle, can she find a love so powerful that all her dreams will come true?

As the heroines of our stories journey down their path to love and acceptance, they all come to realize a deep-seated truth. They are loved. They are princesses. They have a love of a King who laid down His life for theirs. A King who is preparing a home for them. A King who sees who they truly are and loves them without hesitation.

As you read these stories, we pray they touch your heart. We pray they entertain you and maybe even make you laugh a time or two. And lastly, we pray the Christmas truths bless you this holiday season.

Blessings,

Andrea, Mikal, Toni, Angela, and Jaycee
