This month I’m reading and discussing Oathbound by Victoria McCombs! This is such a fun read, and book two just released so I would recommend getting that to read when we’re done!!
Okay, let’s dive in, but first a few reminders. This week we’re discussing Chapters 28 – the end. 🥰 I’m going to divide my thoughts based on chapter so that it’s easy to follow along. These are just random thoughts I had while reading! Feel free to comment on any of it, or just what you thought about these chapters! The goal is to have some fun discussions. And don’t forget – THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!!!!! So if you haven’t read these chapters yet, I highly recommend not reading this post until you do. I mean, unless you don’t want to be surprised lol.

Oh man, I thought Emme was finally going to tell Arn her big secret!!! I hope it happens soon.
Wanna place bets on wheter Emric and Emme go searching without Arn? I’m betting yes!
Chapter 29
Okay getting the Elmber Nut seemed way too easy. Something is gonna happen to them, right?
Chapter 30
This was a super fast paced chapter. Like, I didn’t expect them to be able to defeat him that fast. I almost would have liked to see it drawn out another chapter or two, but perhaps there’s other adventure on it’s way and that’s why it was a short scene.
Chapter 31
Ok what just happened!? I’m basically holding my breath at this point through all the chapters. Poisoned? AAAHHHHHHHHH
Chapter 32
My goodness we are seeing all kinds of people from Arn’s past show up aren’t we? This could get interesting.
Chapter 33
I mean, we knew Emme was of course going to swoop in and save the day, but that didn’t make reading it any less emotional!!
Chapter 34
Come on Arn. Be strong for your woman!!!!!!!!
Chapter 35
Oh my goodness just declare your love already!!!
Okay, now I’m thinking the black ship might be Emme’s mom. Like she didn’t die after all. Maybe? I don’t know. Do you have any thoughts?
Chapter 36
FINALLY!!!!!! Oh the emotion. I almost cried. It’s about time Emme and Arn said those three magic words to each other. Ok, deep breath.
Chapter 37
Good grief here we go again. No more secrets guys!!! The book is almost over and we don’t need you fighting lol.
Chapter 38
Oh this chapter was perfectly written. I’m glad Emme didn’t just immediately forgive Arn and run into his arms. Make him sweat a little lol.
Chapter 39
Ok. I said it from week one – Emric is out for the ship. And this sort of proves my point. I mean I saw this coming since he started. He still has some good points to him, but I think deep down he really wanted to take over. Maybe I’m wrong…..
Chapter 40
I literally said – of course it’s not there you fools. That would be too easy!!! No go searching.
Chapter 41
Oh my gosh, what a powerful scene for Emme. I’m glad McCombs didn’t make her kill him. I feel like that would have totally changed her character. This way was much better.
Chapter 42
Okay, here are my predictions for the end:
- Emric is going to be a merman
- Emme forgives Arn and they are together
- The Blackship is mama and she was just making sure they were protected.
Chapter 43
Okay, I’m thinking book two is going to deal with whomever takes over for Admiral Bones. That seems like it’ll be a fun adventure.
Chapter 44
I think I forgot how to breath. I mean wow. Emric sure did surprise me. I’m biting my nails. What’s going to be on the next page.
Chapter 45
Wait a second here. Ontario? What is happening? I did not see this coming. He wanted it all along? What in the world? My head is spinning.
Chapter 46
Ok, here’s the next book. Killing the king huh? This oughta be fun!!!
Chapter 47
I knew she was alive!!!! Ok how is Emric in the water, and then mommy dearest being alive going to play into the next book? Oh the anticipation is getting to me.
Chapter 48
WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I did not see this plot twist at all, even when we had his twist a few chapters ago. Oh my word. I don’t even know what to think right now. This is crazy!! Oh my McCombs, well done. Phew what a ride!
Overall thoughts
Um, I am speechless. The end to this book just has me in knots, and in a good way! I cannot wait to read book two, and unfortunately I don’t have it (budget cuts in our household – yuck!). But I’m hoping to get it soon. I just have to know what happens next. But as for my thoughts on this book? What a ride. A fantastically, imaginative ride that left me hanging on the edge of my seat and biting my nails. even forgetting to breathe a time or two. I’m so glad I read this books!!!
