It’s so hard to fathom that fall is almost here! But you know what that means? It’s almost Thanksgiving time! I don’t know about you, but Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays (second only to Christmas of course)! I love everything about it – the food, the blessings, the food, being thankful, the food…..see a theme here? Well imagine my delight when I found out that a bunch of wonderful authors were getting ready to release a collection of novellas titled Thanksgiving Books & Blessings, featuring sweet and historical romances. Not only do I love novella collections, I love Thankgiving, so I figured it was a win-win for sure!

Every day between now and September 4th you’ll be introduced to a new novella, until we hit them all! Woohoo!!! Today we’re going to learn about Caryl and Susette’s novellas. Let’s start with Caryl…….

She loves writing almost as much as singing the new songs He gives her—look her up on YouTube to hear a few. Ron and Caryl live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.

Character Profile – Liberty Worley O’Neal

Liberty Worley O’Neal is the glue of the ensemble of pioneers in GONE TO TEXAS, Book One of the first annual Thanksgiving Books & Blessings Collection. On September 29th, 1840—only nine days after heading out from Tennessee to Texas—she turned thirty-nine with no fanfare. The private wagon train consisted of her husband Reagan and two children, her brother Laud’s family, and that of her best friend since grade school, Mallory.

One other sojourner asked to go with the close-knit group: a man with his daughter and slave.
As a Christian woman, Liberty loves God and His Word above all else and objected the loudest to Corbin Harrell traveling with them due to being a slaveowner, but was reminded of Christ’s actions toward sinners and eventually agrees—with reservations.

Fiercely loyal to family and friends, Liberty is sorely tested in so many ways on the journey, and by its end is a different lady from the one who started out. Health issues, the weather, terrible accidents, and hard decisions try to destroy her, but with God’s help, she finds herself so blessed and highly favored. Keeping a journal of the trek helps distract her from all that goes wrong, but she also falls dangerously close to walking in a debilitating sin.

She wrote in her journal, “The four big girls went to town, haven’t talked to Alicia yet, but she and

Gabby came back holding hands like they were her mother and me at that age.

Mallory doesn’t know whatever’s going on either. I shot her a what-happened look at supper, and she only shrugged. Esther seemed bewildered, too. Hopefully, it isn’t Miss Harrell working some kind of dodge on dear Alicia.

If that girl comes between my son and his sweetheart, I will not be responsible for my actions.

Dipping the quill, she laughed. Thank you, Lord, for levelheaded husbands who keep their wives from doing evil things to young girls. She glanced over at him. He’d rolled away from the light of the lantern. Oh, how she adored and respected her husband. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with the love of this man. I know I didn’t do anything to deserve him.

And now onto Susette……..

GATEWAY TO THE WEST (Thanksgiving Books & Blessings Collection One Book 2) by [Williams, Susette]

Coming to America was supposed to be a new adventure for Hayley Hunter and her husband, a chance for a fresh start in a new country. She never dreamed her journey would land her alone in a strange place with nobody she knew. She joins up with a wagon train in the hopes of meeting up with her brother and his family along the trail. Malcom Wheeler knows the hardships and heartbreak families face, but there’s usually safety in numbers, so he runs his own wagon train to try and help people determined to head out west. Taking the lady along rubs his better judgement; understanding her plight and being happy about it are two different things. Can Malcom help Hayley find comfort by restoring a part of her past when he finds her family’s journal? Is there hope for both of them to find a family of their own?
